Eaglearts Academy: Summer Arts Camp

For residential or day students grades 7 to 12

Eaglearts Dance

Dance Campm

We offer a variety of dance courses and workshops for the serious student wishing to pursue dance as a profession, the singer or actor seeking to expand their capacity as a performer and those who just wish to experience the joy of movement. Those choosing dance as their major track will be placed according to skill level. Morning classes will focus on ballet, pointe/variations, modern, and jazz. Afternoon classes and electives include Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, African, Ballroom, Choreography, and Musical Theatre. Dance majors will participate in evening rehearsals to create dance works for performance opportunities throughout the session and a final performance.

Non-dance majors may select dance classes and workshops offered at their appropriate level.

Eaglearts Visual Arts Program

Visual Arts Camp

Classes are designed to refine skills, cultivate inner and outer vision and assist the student to develop disciplined studio habits. Participants are encouraged to think creatively and critically. Morning core classes include drawing exploration and figure drawing. In addition, students select a path of study in painting, printmaking (interdisciplinary/mixed media also possible). Each of these investigates both traditional and innovative methods and media. Afternoon workshops are open to Visual Arts Majors and others interested in exploring courses such as papermaking, bookbinding, batik, felting, hand building with clay, pottery, tile design, introduction to black and white photography, explorations in Photoshop and “Image and Text.” Studios will be open in the evenings for students to complete class projects and accomplish personal work. A final open studio tour will allow Academy participants, staff and community a chance to view the culmination of the session’s work. Students will also assist in creating props and sets for final evening performances by the drama and dance departments.

Eaglearts Music

Music Camp

Open to vocalists, composers and instrumentalists, Eaglearts music courses are designed to refine and strengthen individual creative, technical and interpretive performance skills and to explore music’s potential to uplift and inspire. Morning classes are devoted to skill development, music theory and ensemble work. Afternoon workshops include, sound production, composition, songwriting, musical theatre, percussion, and spoken word. Evenings are devoted to individual rehearsal, production work and creative collaborations.

Eaglearts Drama

Drama Camp

You will be guided to develop actor’s skills through a variety of methods both traditional and contemporary. Classes in voice, physical movement, improvisation, character development, and physical comedy are designed to draw out your theatrical talents. Morning core classes will focus on technical training. A variety of afternoon workshops include: The Art of Storytelling, Acting on Camera, Musical Theatre, and Shakespeare. Evenings are devoted to production work. Opportunities are provided for monologues, skits and vignettes to be performed throughout the session. We encourage collaboration between the arts! Drama participants should be adventuresome, open-minded and willing to explore a variety of approaches to acting.

Video Production

This course is designed for students who want to develop their skills in every aspect of video production. Participants will create a short script and learn techniques in storyboarding, directing, filming and editing. Personalized instruction will allow more advanced students to move forward at a faster pace. The various classes and hands-on aspects of this course will require students to dedicate their day and evening project time to this program. Videos will be screened on the final day of performances at the Eaglearts Festival of the Arts. Students who have their own digital cameras and laptops with video editing capacity are encouraged to bring them for use in this course only. Class size is limited and students will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

ESL Arts Academy

For grades 7 to 12

Language Program

Our program offers international students an opportunity to study their artistic interests along side native English speaking students in a beautiful community on the west coast of Canada. Participants will receive three hours of morning instruction in their chosen course of artistic study. In the afternoon, students may choose up to three additional arts classes or recreational activities. In the evenings, students will select a performing or visual art project which will reinforce their language skills and allow them to practice conversational English.

We complement our program with guest artists and lecturers which include professional dancers, musicians, singers and visual artists. In addition, on weekends students go on special excursions.

Join with students from around the world to improve your knowledge and ability of the English Language. Eaglearts ESL will provide enriching arts classes, fun activities, exciting excursions, and opportunities to meet new friends, all adding up to an unforgettable learning adventure!

All our arts and activities foster student interaction and encourage expression of both newly developed English skills and students’ creativity.

Arts Electives

For students to become efficient in the English Language, we provide integrated learning opportunities where conversational English is encouraged. Eaglearts ESL students will interact with English speaking students by exploring their creative interests through our Arts Electives. Professional artists will offer classes in Music, Choir, Dance, Drama, and Visual Art. Students may choose two afternoon arts or activities according to their interest. At the end of the program, all students will do presentations that may include skits they have created and songs they have learned.

Physical Activities

Physical activities are an important and exciting aspect of the program. Our facility is located at the edge of a mountain. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of water sports as well as games and sports.

Excursions

There are two major full-day excursions on Saturday or Sunday with additional half day trips. All our excursions are designed to provide fun and interesting cultural, artistic and environmental experiences.

Explorations Youth Camp

For residential or day students grades 4 to 6

Youth Camp

Imagine a fun-filled day exploring your creative potential through music, dance, drama, visual art and creative writing. Now add exciting activities including kayaking, swimming, hiking, and team-building games to provide the perfect balance for a well-rounded and dynamic program.

All students in the Explorations program participate in at least one class of music, dance, drama, and visual art daily.

Music classes include both vocal and instrumental. Some instruments are provided, but it is strongly recommended that students bring their own if they have one.

Visual arts electives include painting, drawing, ceramics, and more!

Dance electives include ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz, African, and social dancing.

Drama classes are taught by experienced instructors who will also direct their final program presentation.

Visiting artists and guest teachers enhance the daily activities and evening program with talent shows and sing-alongs, day trips and special outings, campfires and treasure-hunts—all add up to an unforgettable experience!

Childrens Art Camp

Get ready for an exciting week of fun and creative learning with your guide, Leonardo da Vinci. Music, Dance, Visual Art and Drama become the tools of discovery as budding young artists explore the beauty of the world around them and uncover the virtues within. Qualified arts instructors provide exciting classes complemented by well supervised activities including swimming, canoeing, nature walks, cooperative games and special outings. Little Leos will “strut their stuff” as they take part in the final presentation.
